Devil's Tower

i had to do a report about devil's tower for one of my classes. what do you think of it.

Location

Devil’s Tower is located in northeast Wyoming. This monumental structure is also located on over 1,000 acres of flat rolling land. The climate there is very much like ours. The climate is usually mild and typical of the Black Hills region. High temperatures can range from the mid 90s in the summer to the 50s in the spring & fall. Winters can be cold with extended periods of below zero temperatures possible.

History

I will now tell you about the history behind this structure. A Sioux Indian tribe thinks Devil’s Tower was something from a spirit. The whole story goes like this. Three Sioux Indian girls were picking daisies in a meadow. Then a large bear chased them for miles. The spirit raised the ground beneath the girls to save them. Some say that you can still see bear claw marks on the side of the tower. The first actual documented history came in 1859. During that year, Captain W. F. Raynold led an expedition of people to Devil’s Tower to study it. Sixteen years later, a survey party went there and on that day, they gave it the name “Devil’s Tower” but the reason for this name is unknown. Also, on July 4, 1893, William Rogers became the first to climb the tower.

Points of Interest and Activities

At the Devil’s Tower National Park you can do a lot of things. You can climb Devil’s Tower, although you must register and take a course first. There are five hiking trails. These trails add up to about seven miles. You can also view many different kinds of wildlife too. There are even spots for you to camp. And if you are not into any of that, then you can just do what most people go there to do – view the monument.

Interesting Facts

· Devil’s Tower was the first site made into a national monument.
· This year marks the 100th anniversary of Devil’s Tower becoming a national monument.
· Devil’s Tower stands 1,267 ft. from the base to the top.

oh that reminds me. today at a school assembly i saw an atheist girl who sat in front of me and she was all gothic and she scared the shit out of me. then brad and i started sigin Christmas songs ans she looked at us and i said "No! You can't listen to our holy songs about Jesus and Christmas"

whats so bad about atheists?... im an atheist but not gothic.. I live everyday like its my last and i dont spend time going to church ... sorry...
